The Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys needed nearly every second available to settle their international matchup in Rio de Janeiro, with Baltimore escaping with a 34-31 victory on a 56-yard field goal as time expired.
Dallas established its running game early behind Javonte Williams, who broke runs of 17 yards and another substantial gain that moved the Cowboys inside the Baltimore five-yard line. The opening drive ended with a Brandon Aubrey field goal, but Williams soon returned to the goal line and powered in for Dallas' first touchdown.
Baltimore answered with the combination that has powered its offense for years. Lamar Jackson began creating opportunities with his legs and connected with Zay Flowers for a 22-yard gain before Derrick Henry finished the drive with a touchdown. Henry struck again later in the first half, breaking outside and outrunning the Dallas defense for another score.
The Cowboys stayed within range behind Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, although Baltimore's defense repeatedly made Dallas work for its opportunities. A Cowboys turnover and a blocked 59-yard Aubrey field-goal attempt shifted momentum toward Baltimore, and Jackson capitalized by finding Chris Moore for a touchdown.
Dallas responded rather than allowing the game to get away. Prescott connected with Jake Ferguson for a touchdown and then found Lamb for the two-point conversion, narrowing Baltimore's advantage to 24-21.
The Cowboys defense then produced one of the game's pivotal moments. Baltimore drove to the Dallas goal line, but Henry was swarmed on fourth-and-goal and stopped short. Prescott immediately took advantage, connecting with Lamb on a 50-yard completion before continuing the drive through Pickens. KaVontae Turpin finished it with a touchdown that put Dallas in front.
Baltimore still had an answer. Jackson directed another late drive, using Flowers and the short passing game to reach the goal line before patiently finding his tight end for a touchdown.
Dallas mounted one final drive of its own. Prescott moved the Cowboys into scoring position, and Aubrey converted from 23 yards to tie the game 31-31 with only seconds remaining. Overtime appeared likely.
Instead, Baltimore needed just seven seconds to change the outcome.
Jackson completed a pass down the middle, and the Ravens managed to call timeout with one second remaining. That created an unlikely opportunity for a 56-yard field goal. The kick was good, completing Baltimore's 34-31 walk-off victory.
For Dallas, the loss came despite a fourth-quarter comeback and several important defensive stops. For Baltimore, the difference was its ability to create one final opportunity when virtually no time remained — turning seven seconds into a memorable finish in Rio.
